Our client is a pioneering e-mobility startup headquartered in Europe, dedicated to democratising EV charging access for businesses, residential communities, and commercial properties. Operating in a rapidly evolving market where charging infrastructure doubles annually, they needed a technology partner who could match their ambitious growth trajectory while maintaining operational excellence.
We architected and delivered a cloud-native EV charging management platform that serves as the central nervous system for their entire operation. The solution includes a comprehensive admin dashboard for real-time monitoring and control, a public-facing website where drivers can instantly start charging sessions via QR codes, and a React Native mobile app that empowers customers to manage their charging experience end-to-end. We integrated AI-powered OCR technology that automatically reads and categorises installation invoices, and implemented Stripe Connect to enable seamless payment splitting between the platform and charger owners.
Our approach began with a two-week discovery phase where we shadowed operators, interviewed stakeholders, and mapped the entire charging ecosystem. We then moved into rapid prototyping, delivering a functional MVP within 8 weeks that included core OCPP integration and basic monitoring capabilities. The build phase focused on developing the full platform architecture with microservices for scalability, implementing the AI invoice processing system, and creating both web and mobile interfaces. Throughout the project, we maintained bi-weekly sprint cycles with continuous deployment, ensuring the client could start onboarding chargers while we refined advanced features.
Within six months of launch, the platform transformed our client's operational capabilities and market position. The automated systems eliminated manual bottlenecks, allowing them to onboard 100+ chargers weekly compared to their previous 10-charger limit. Real-time monitoring reduced average incident resolution time from 4 hours to 15 minutes, significantly improving customer satisfaction scores.
Qualitative Wins
We built a universal OCPP gateway that supports 1.6 protocols, with manufacturer-specific adapters for over 20 charger models. The abstraction layer ensures seamless communication regardless of hardware vendor, enabling true interoperability.
The OCR system achieves 94% accuracy on standard invoices and continuously improves through machine learning. Edge cases are flagged for human review, ensuring 100% accuracy in final processing while reducing manual effort by 83%.
